- The Alexander Inn – where the first body was found
Located up the hill from Historic Jackson Square, just off Kentucky Avenue
The Alexander Inn was originally called “The Guesthouse,” and was the only hotel in Oak Ridge during the War Years.
Greats such as General Groves and Robert Oppenheimer stayed at this hotel, as did John F. Kennedy when he visited as a senator.
- Chapel on the Hill – where funeral was held
Located behind the Alexander Inn, just off Kentucky Avenue
The Chapel on the Hill is now home to the Church. During the War Years, every denomination worshiped here at different hours, and numerous weddings were performed here
- Georgia Avenue – where Novak lived (many original “alphabet houses” still remain in this area)
Located off the Oak Ridge Turnpike at Traffic Light #2 The “alphabet houses” are so named because of how they are built. The smallest, or “A” house, is a one bedroom, one bath. The next, is a “B” house, with 2 bedrooms and one bath. And the alphabet moves on from there, all the way to an “U” which is a duplex, and a “E” which was a multi-family house or a “four-plex.”

This museum tells the story of Oak Ridge’s inception, its role in the Manhattan Project, and its peacetime efforts.

While you can stop at the Oak Ridge Library to check out a book or log on to the internet, you can also explore the Oak Ridge Room which houses original phone books, maps, and numerous photos from the War Years.

- International Friendship Bell – Badger Avenue Located inside A.K. Bissell Park
The first monument between a U.S. Manhattan Project city and Japan, the bell serves as an expression of hope for everlasting peace.
- John Hendrix Prophecy –
The John Hendrix Gravesite can be found in Hendrix Creek subdivision. The address is 123 Hendrix Dr., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Part II
- Y-12 National Security Complex – While the complex itself is not open to the public, in 2007, a new visitors center was opened for the public. This center showcases exhibits featuring displays on Y-12 inventions as well as a brief video on the history of Y-12.

- Scarboro Road Guardhouse – One of the guardhouses built during the 1950’s that replaced the original wooden guardhouses at the entrances to the city of Oak Ridge. Today, they are used for meetings, special events, photo shoots, etc.
- Wildcat Stadium/Blankenship Field – The original football field of the Oak Ridge Wildcats, the high school football team. While the high school has moved into a new building across town, the students voted to keep the stadium in the same historic location.
- Historic Jackson Square – The original “Townsite” of Oak Ridge still stands, looking much the same as it did in the 1940’s. The U-shaped shopping center today houses local restaurants, gift shops, arts & crafts shops, and the Oak Ridge Playhouse.
- Big Ed’s Pizza – A famed local establishment that serves pizza, coke and beer. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s all about the atmosphere in this joint. Oh, and the pizza is definitely worth the trip.
- Katy’s Kitchen – Located on the Reservation, this is the only site in the book that visitors will not be allowed to see. But it did exist during the war years.

- The Soup Kitchen – Another local favorite, featuring homemade soups, breads, and deserts. A quaint atmosphere in the heart of Jackson Square makes this a great spot.
- Jackson Square Pharmacy – Formerly Jackson Square Pharmacy, now known as Jackson Square Gifts, this shop is also located in Historic Jackson Square and features an assortment of great gift items, including Oak Ridge souvenirs.
- Emma Spray Gardens – Located in Historic Jackson Square, this quiet and peaceful garden area is a nice place to sit and relax if you’re having a hectic day.
- Community Theater (Oak Ridge Playhouse) – Located in Historic Jackson Square, the Oak Ridge Playhouse is the longest continually operating playhouse in the state of Tennessee.
